Vallejo Gem and Mineral is a non-profit organization that has been around since 1954. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to sharing our knowledge of lapidary arts and mineralogy. We encourage the interest of geology, mineralogy and metalsmithing among people of all ages, young and old.

Our club has a workshop at the Vallejo Fairgrounds with lapidary equipment for members use. We have field trips throughout the year for rock collecting. We also offer classes in metalsmithing and mineralogy.

Our tables at the Steam Discovery Festival will have an ongoing demonstration of cabochon making using a multi wheeled Genie cabbing machine. We have a display board that shows all the stages required to turn a rock into a beautiful cabochon. There will samples of some different types of rocks that are found in California. And for real rockhounds (over 5 yrs) we have some beautiful, polished rocks. We can turn that rock into a necklace or a keychain or you can enjoy it just as it is.
